2018 has been a big year for William Hill Poker. The game added new tournaments, awarded the first ever WPT Player of the Year and also hosts an online casino at its home website.

WPT Announces New Season XX Events, Player of the Year Winner

As the company’s 20th season begins, the World Poker Tour released the first half of its 2022 schedule this week. The additions increase the Main Tour’s total number of events to four, including one online poker tournament in Asia.

The $3,500 Lucky Hearts Poker Open, with a $2 million guarantee, starts off the season on Jan. 13 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. The tour also announced three WPTDeepStacks tournaments, two of which would take place outside of the United States.

WPT administrators have promised further special activities to commemorate the tour’s 20th anniversary in addition to the ones already planned.

WPT CEO Adam Pliska remarked in a press release, “We couldn’t be happier to be beginning our historic 20th anniversary with an exceptional partner in Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.” “For the remainder of the year, we have a variety of unique activities planned to provide the poker community incredible opportunities to celebrate with us.”

Additional activities and planned for recording the final table in Las Vegas

Following the Lucky Hearts, the WPT will host another online tournament on Poker King. The WPT Spring Festival takes place from January 27 to February 7, with a guaranteed prize pool of $12,000,000 ($1.9 million).

The 2,200 ($345) Main Event, which runs from February 1 to 7, has a $8 million ($1.25 million) guarantee. The site caters mostly to Asian gamers.

The WPT returns to the Seminole for its second live Main Tour event. The $3,500 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown takes place April 8-12, with a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million.

With 2,482 registrations and a $7.9 million prize fund, the tournament set a new record for the biggest live WPT field in 2021. For $1.3 million, Brek Schutten won the championship.

The Choctaw Casino in Durant, Oklahoma hosts the third WPT Main Tour stop. This is the tour’s sixth year hosting an event at the venue.

The $3,800 WPT Choctaw is scheduled for May 13-16, but there is no assurance yet. Last June, 964 people entered the tournament, resulting in a $3.3 million prize pool, comfortably exceeding the $1 million guarantee.

The WPT also has plans for the Hard Rock Showdown and Choctaw tournaments’ forthcoming broadcast final tables. The last six players will be shot on May 25-26 at the Luxor’s HyperX Esports Arena.

WPTDeepStacks is back in action.

Along with Main Tour dates, the WPTDeepStacks (WPTDS) will return in 2021, with three more cities added to the itinerary. From March 25 to April 2, the €1,100 WPTDS Amsterdam takes place at Holland Casino.

From March 30 to April 11, WPTDS Sydney delivers big tournament action to players in Australia. The series’ centerpiece is the (A)$1,500 buy-in Main Event.

After that, the tour returns to the United States for a tournament at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California. The series will run from April 19 through May 1 and will include a $1,500 Main Event. At a later date, further Season XX events will be revealed.

Jake Ferro has been named Player of the Year.

In December, the WPT concluded Season XIX with the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Jake Ferro was named Player of the Year at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old from Syracuse, New York, finished the season with a deep run in the Five Diamond. After being runner-up in the Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open for $573,605, he finished 14th for $80,245.

“I’m ecstatic to have been named WPT Player of the Year for Season XIX, and I’m looking forward to competing in more WPT tournaments in 2022,” Ferro stated. “It would have been a dream come true to have my name carved on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup, but coming so close just makes me more excited for the season ahead.”

Ferro received a WPT Passport worth $15,000 as the victor, which he may utilize at any Season XX tournament. Throughout the next season, he will be treated like a VIP, with luxury lodgings and ground transportation.

Rok Gostisa finished second after winning the WPT World Online Championships Main Event at partypoker in September. He was awarded a WPT Passport worth $7,500.

Chad Eveslage came in third place and took home a $2,500 WPT Passport. Albert Knafo won a $10,000 WPT Passport by winning the (WPTDS) North America Player of the Year award.

Taylor Black wins the Five Diamond award.

Taylor Black won $1.2 million in the Five Diamond out of 715 entrants. The victory was a lifelong ambition come true for the Californian, who now has $3.9 in live tournament wins.

He told WPT.com, “It’s wonderful to be on the list of Five Diamond champions with people like them who are my friends and amazing players… it’s really a unique event.” “You don’t get to choose which tournament you get to run good enough to win, so it’s strange that it’s in this one of all the tournaments I play.”

The tournament generated a prize pool of $6.9 million, with the action being taped for transmission at HyperX. Vik Shegal came in second place, earning $827,620.
