On the eve of the SBC Summit North America, the Mobile Gaming & Casino Association (MGC) has confirmed South Korean keynote speaker Soo Kim as the event’s keynote speaker. Kim is the founder and CEO of NCSoft and also holds a position on the board of Sega, and has over 15 years of experience in the gaming and online content industry.
In a move that continues to bolster its position as a leading provider of credit and debit cards, SBC has confirmed that it has awarded Soo Kim as the keynote speaker for the upcoming SBC Summit North America, to be held on July 27th, 2010 at the JW Marriot Hotel in Las Vegas. Kim, the first female CMO of a major debit and credit card issuer, will speak about How to create a risk-managed Financial Services business.
The largest specialized sports betting and igaming conference and expo, SBC Summit North America, has acquired the services of a prominent keynote speaker.
At the occasion, Soo Kim, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Standard General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bally’s Corporation, will conduct a “fireside conversation.” The Summit will be held in the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, from November 30 to December 2.
Since 1997, Kim has been investing in unusual circumstances strategies as a founding partner of Standard General. He now serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bally’s Corporation, previously known as Twin River Worldwide Holdings Inc, which owns and operates numerous casinos in the United States.
Under his leadership, the company has begun diversifying into new verticals such as media (through the acquisition of Sinclair Broadcasting), software platforms (through the acquisition of Bet.Works), esports (through the acquisition of Monkey Knife Fight), and the iconic Strip property (Tropicana), among others.
He’ll cover a wide variety of subjects, including the confluence of sports, gaming, and media, the future of internet gaming, and the New Jersey and New York markets in particular.
“I’m excited to be able to share Bally’s experience and aspirations with members of the industry ecosystem who will be attending this event,” Kim said. Because the company’s plans span many areas of the business, speaking with other operators, suppliers, the media, government officials, and professional sports representatives will be a pleasure.”
Contessa Brewer, an American television journalist who covers the casino and gambling sectors as a reporter for CNBC, will interview him.
“We’re delighted to have Soo Kim offer his views on where the industry is headed,” said Rasmus Sojmark, CEO of SBC. Bally’s is adopting a unique strategy to expanding the business, so our guests will benefit from hearing his perspective on the future.”
Sue Schneider, SBC’s VP, Growth & Strategy, Americas added: “Given Bally’s aggressive growth pattern and the diversity of holdings that they’re amassing, they have an interesting model. Soo Kim has a vision and a viewpoint that makes Bally’s a major player in the gaming industry.”
SBC Summit North America will include eight conference tracks and more than 200 professional presenters who will offer their perspectives on the major challenges and opportunities driving the development of the sports betting and igaming sectors in the United States. The SBC Summit North America website has information on the entire program, as well as the 61,000 square foot exposition, special networking activities, and tickets.
