The Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation announced that it will be implementing a hybrid working model. The new system allows employees to work in one location for up to five days, then take three days off with pay and return to the office on another 5 day cycle.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has announced its intention to establish a new work paradigm for its staff. The Crown agency will employ a hybrid approach for personnel from the Roberta Bondar Place and its Toronto office since some roles allow adequate flexibility. The new model is expected to go into effect in January.

In order to safeguard its staff from the hazardous virus, the OLG, like many other businesses, resorted to working from home during the unusual scenario. Following the adoption of the new working paradigm, nearly 600 Crown workers will no longer be needed to go to offices and will instead be able to work from the comfort of their own homes.

Putting Flexibility into Practice

The shift in working methodology is congruent with many other organizations in the province, according to Tony Bitonti, head of external relations for the OLG. Staff can be effective when working from home, according to him, and many workers have voiced a desire for continuous flexibility in terms of working without physically reporting to the OLG buildings.

The Crown organization conducted a poll of its workers, and found that 90% of the Foster Drive headquarters workforce would be willing to work under the suggested hybrid model. The strategy is still in the works, but it will be structured in such a manner that it will calculate how often a certain member should attend the office depending on their department and position.

The goal of the new approach, according to Mr. Bitonti, is for workers to feel secure, comfortable, and protected. According to him, the Crown has made certain changes to its offices to make them safer for its employees, in accordance with provincial health and safety rules. However, it is still unknown how much office space will be required for the new work model.

In addition, the OLG’s spokeswoman said in a recent statement that the business is working with landlords to identify future real estate agreements in order to comply with local office space requirements. He also said that the Crown is committed to Sault Ste. Marie as an employer and a supporter of several events and organizations.

Relocating for Work

Ross Romano, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie, has voiced his wish to see more OLG jobs returned to the agency’s headquarters in Sault Ste. Marie. Because 800 of the 1,300 positions are presently situated in Toronto, he wants to see the employment back to Sault Ste. Marie. According to him, the OLG posts are critical to the city’s economy, and it would be excellent to see more of them restored.

Payment for the second quarter was received.

The OLG made its quarterly casino payment to the municipality of Sault Ste. Marie for hosting Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie at the end of October. According to the Municipality Contribution Agreements, the city got a CA$325,000 allocation for the second quarter. Non-tax gaming money will now be utilized to help the economy of the area.

The “olg insider win policy” is a new working model that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation will be introducing. The OLG is trying to create a system where insiders are rewarded for their knowledge, rather than being punished for it.
