The victory of Millar Farms (8.5/9) over Mcnallybet (7.5/9) showed that the well-bred, talented and experienced Millar Farms team is a force to be reckoned with. The team of Steve Millar, Fabian Camacho, Justin Millar, Alex Beavis, Aaron Erb and Michael Kim (the out-of-towner, who won the chips of Victor Tran) was competitive throughout the entire game, and they held their own against the opposition, even though they were down to only 12 players.

Millar Farms, the highly successful online poker company that recently launched in Canada, was well-represented in action at the Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, February 18. The promotion, which ran in conjunction with the first televised card of the 2017 WSOP, was a huge success.

Who would have thought a place that gives away free chips could bring out the best in its race horses? Well, it can! We had a chance to see the Millar Farms team at Woodbine Mohawk Park in Toronto, Ontario, and the results were not only outstanding, but very emotive.. On August 17, 2021, Woodbine Mohawk Park held the third leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series for two-year-old pacing fillies, which was an exciting round of horse racing action. Millar Farms of Stouffville, Ontario, wowed once again, with outstanding performances from Silver Label and Prohibition Legal.

The Ontario horse racing business is presently flourishing and is beginning to recover from the effects of the exceptional circumstance. Live racing was permitted to resume in June after being stopped, and in July, Woodbine Entertainment formally welcomed back live crowds at its Woodbine Racetrack and Woodbine Mohawk Park, which were both filled to 50 percent capacity.

Astonishing Display

Silver Label, driven by James McDonald, was the first horse out of the gate and into position five in the inaugural CA$103,000 Gold division for Millar Farm. After a sluggish start, the filly raced to a 27 1/5 first quarter lead over the pack of ten. The horse sped up the last quarter to set a new personal best of 1:52, with Fade out and Love That Smile finishing in second and third, respectively.

Silver Label’s trainer, Nick Gallucci, said that the victory is a significant step forward for her, since she has shown herself in the top category. During the winter, the daughter of Bettor’s Delight and Hidden Gem, according to him, has trained very well. This was her second Gold Series victory and her fourth overall. She also won the Grassroots opening on July 6 at Georgian Downs and an overnight on August 2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

There were further reasons to be excited when Prohibition Legal put in a stunning effort four races later, establishing a personal best of 1:52. She came from sixth to first in a stunning manner, passing collar pace-setter Balance and pocket-sitter Flo. The victory comes only two weeks after the filly was treated for stomach discomfort at the University of Guelph Equine Clinic, and it was uncertain if she would compete again this summer.

Mr. Gallucci said that the University did an excellent job with her care and that surgery was not required since the filly stayed at the clinic for five days. The team was concerned about the horse, according to the trainer, since the operation would have taken her out of action for the remainder of the year. Mr. Gallucci said that the team was fortunate to avoid surgery, and that the recent victory was particularly memorable for her and him.

Guests of Honor

The Queen’s Plate stakes, which will be held at Woodbine Racetrack on Sunday, should thrill horse racing enthusiasts. Woodbine Entertainment announced earlier last week that Olympic swimmers Penny Oleksiak and Kayla Sanchez would serve as celebrity ambassadors for the event. Jason Partuondo will also host the stakes breakfast, which will begin at 10 a.m. ET.

An Exciting Summer Awaits

Previously, Jim Lawson, the current CEO and President of Woodbine Entertainment, expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s version of The Queen’s Plate in an interview. According to him, the CA$1 million tournament this summer may feature a full field of 17 competitors. Furthermore, live crowds will be present at the track for the first time since 2019, adding to an even greater experience.
