A homeless poker player in Florida managed to win an entire $100,000 in cash in his first cash game tournament this past week, and, just a few days later, he was able to score a bracelet as well. Unfortunately, he’s still homeless and going through some issues, so he has no place to put his gigantic bracelets.

The weekend continued with a series of events at the Online World Series of Poker. Two events were held, with over 1,400 participants and even more great prizes.

This big name hasn’t won a bracelet yet, but regular online tournament players from Nevada and New Jersey continue to do well. Poker strategy author Carlos Welch caused a stir this weekend by winning his first bracelet.

Here is a summary of the latest findings.

Event #8: $888 Crazy Eights (July 8)

Many know Carlos Welch as the author of Strategies and co-host of the Thinking Poker Daily podcast. He offers many concepts and ideas to players when he is not at the tables himself.

That attitude paid off again last Thursday at the online WSOP. He defeated a field of 782 players to win $124,369 and the championship bracelet.

That’s a lot different than his life as a homeless poker player. With his vehicle, known as Nit Mobile, he moved from event to event. Welch spoke at the event from a hotel room in Rio.

@WSOP, can you send my bracelet to my room in the Masquerade Tower, and can I get a late checkout?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. #Oneforthegoodguys #TPE #LPP #TPP #TPD

– Carlos Welch (@HipHop101Trivia) 9. July 2021

The outcome of this event will not be easy. He went heads-up against Jun jykpoker Kim, who won a bracelet at the WSOP Online last summer.

Event #9: $400 NLHE Six-Max (July 9)

This low buy-in tournament had 788 entrants and a prize pool of $438,120. Philip Wingsuiter Beck took first place with $81,534, only his fifth WSOP cash.

Apparently Beck is a big fan of Partypoker’s Pro Team, Jame Staples. After the win, he sent words of thanks to the Twitch streamer.

This is the closest I’ve ever been! Congratulations!!! #wsop

2018 WSOP Main Event finalist Michael Dyer finished in third place for $13,926. This film became his fourth box office hit in the series.

Shorr has already made the rounds several times. Last Friday, he also spoke a bit about his preparations for the final table after a pair of victories in the live arena.

For the second day of the tournament, I study my opponents and get a visual idea of the table and stacks. It’s always particularly painful to come back to the table on days when the tournament didn’t go well, to see the notebook and think of what could have been! Crumple up the paper immediately:

Big names who have not yet won

While many big names have come close to winning, the winners have remained largely unknown to many poker fans. In the 22 remaining tournaments, there are still many who want a bracelet.

The action will then move to GGPoker, which should also attract many pros with a bracelet in hand. The two months leading up to the fall and the WSOP in Las Vegas should be interesting.

Many promotions continue, including different buy-in levels. Through Thursday, players can deposit buy-ins ranging from $500 to $5,300.

This Super High Roller event takes place on Thursday and is one to keep an eye on. Many big names will be competing in this tournament, as this prize provides an impressive prize pool. Here’s an overview of what’s in store for you in the coming days.

  • 500 NLHE Turbo Deepstack – 12. July
  • 1,000 NLHE Freezeout – 13. July
  • 500 NLHE – 14. July
