The world of online gaming has been on the rise and there’s no sign that it will stop anytime soon. Companies are coming out with more new games every day, creating a competitive market where only one company can come up as the best. ComeOn joined Ontario to become its first licensed gambling operator in Canada.
The “ontario sports betting license” is the first of its kind in Canada. It allows the company to operate both online and land-based casinos.
ComeOn announced at the end of last week that it has been granted an official license to participate in Ontario’s new competitive online sports betting and iCasino regime. The firm is now the 31st gaming operator to be approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission to sell its digital sports betting products to legal age Ontarians.
On April 4, 2022, Ontario’s open iGaming and sports wagering market for private operators officially launched. Entities that have gained AGCO regulatory permission may now lawfully market their internet goods to local audiences. The market’s debut has effectively eliminated the grey gaming industry, allowing the province to retain part of the money.
Ascending to the position of 31st Licensed Brand
On April 21, 2022, ComeOn stated that its license to operate as a legal sportsbook app in the province would take effect. The firm is now the 31st gaming organization to be granted a license to compete in the market. The sportsbook’s license will expire in April 2024, making it just the 12th operator to be awarded a two-year registration.
Over 30 operators have been granted licence by the province thus far, including some well-known names in the gaming sector. Unibet, theScore, BetRivers, 888, PointsBet, LeoVegas, Bwin, Bet365, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars Entertainment are among the brands that were allowed to start on the first day. In addition, Betway and NorthStar have joined forces.
Bragg Gaming Group, a Canadian B2B gaming supplier, has also entered the province’s new iGaming framework. Through an arrangement with 888casino, the firm will be able to join the industry. The provider will now release unique game titles from its premium library. Egyptian Magic, a fan favorite, is a debut offering from the provider’s in-house studio Atomic Slot Lab.
The provincial administration made the decision to open the competitive iGaming industry in April 2019 and has been working hard to make it a reality since then. The province released its final criteria for online betting and gambling in September of last year. These laws imposed a variety of restrictions on game design, including as a ban on automatic features, and forced operators to join IBIA for sports wagering.
Maintaining the Integrity of Sports Betting
The Global Lottery Monitoring System said shortly after the market opened that it would be entering the province’s sports betting industry. The organization will help its member, the OLG, in its sports betting integrity initiatives as a result of its membership. The GLMS works to raise awareness of and combat sports game manipulation as part of its operations.
The organization does not provide sports betting or lottery operations; instead, it offers its members, such as the Crown company, a variety of services, including as monitoring and education. It is promoting inter-jurisdictional and inter-stakeholder cooperation initiatives to aid in the resolution of the global problem, and the association and the AGCO have worked together seamlessly so far.
